Right, not being big headed but I’m a good swimmer. However when I go swimming there are a couple of things that just really wind me up. Every swimming pool that has laned swimming should have signs up at the end of every lane telling swimmers the etiquette of swimming. This is what they should say:
- Give way to faster swimmers
- Don’t get in the fast lane when every swimmer in the slow lane is faster than you, I’ve seen this one happen trust me!
- Look behind you at the end of the lane and let someone past if they are right behind. Don’t just set off and then wonder why someone has speared in the back you after doing a tumble turn. We’re faster accept it and move on.
- Don’t hog the end of the lane especially when a swimmer is coming up to turn, I have OCD I need to touch the end. Now Move out of my way or I’ll use your fat belly as the wall and tumble turn on you!!
- If I touch your foot, stop at the end of the lane. It takes 5 seconds, or I’ll keep swimming on your feet for the next 3 miles… yes I am that spiteful
- Wait 5-10 second before setting off behind someone…. it just makes sense
- Don’t complain about being splashed, its water you get wet, grow up!
Okay maybe not exactly in these words you know what I mean. If people followed these basic common sense practices everyone would get along much better. There’s actually a name for what happens – swimming pool rage. Look it up it happens.
Now lets just hope that the next few swims will be less stressful!
Rant Over!!
